Program Description

The phlebotomy program prepares students for employment as a plebotomist in a hospital, clinical, or independent medical laboratory. A phlebotomist collects, processes, and distributes laboratory specimens according to established procedures for analysis. Techniques of venipuncture for specimen collection are demonstrated and practiced in the lab to allow the student to perform these skills in a clinical setting with supervision.

Phlebotomy Technician Program

The phlebotomy technician program is a diploma program that is licensed by the Department of Education. Graduates will receive a diploma at the end of the program, not a completion certificate.

Upon successful completion of the program requirements, the student will be elgible to sit for phlebotomy certification via a national exam organization. This exam is conducted onsite and students get the results on the same day as the exam.

Phlebotomy Program Prerequisites:

Phlebotomy Certification Requirements:

  • To sit for the NHA CPT certification exam, candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent. It is recommended you have this before enrolling in this program. In addition, for NHA certification, you must successfully complete the required number of venipunctures and dermal punctures. Certification exams offered by NHA are only available online to candidates located in the US.
